Sigh. TOM CLANCY thought about it but apparently the people we pay to address real-life problems are too busy drooling over my Visa bill. I enjoy the story in Clancy's novels but actually reading them isn't that pleasant. He takes some wonderful thought-provoking ideas and weaves them through 600 pages of uninteresting crap. He's predicted a whole lot of terrorist stuff with frightening accuracy, why on earth doesn't the government hire him as a theorist and develop some contingency plans. As a writer he's somewhat lacking but he's a topnotch researcher.
